a moment

were you there?

i was part of the 15,000 crowd, bopping and jiving the night away, dancing to the songs that the 'forever-25' man was belting out.

to be frank, i'm not a dedicated fan of his. heck, i don't even know how to sing any of his songs. however, like many other 30+-year-olds, i grew up on a healthy dose of his melodies, playing in the background whilst we go about with our studies.

i went for lacking of something better to fill the nights. the enthusiasm didn't hit me like it did for michael jackson and andy lau's concert. i wasn't exactly climbing over chairs to get a better look at his 50+ wrinkled face. however, i must say, this is the best concert i have been to so far.

when you think of him, perhaps most people will think of his ever-expanding waistline, droopy-with-age face and descriptions such as over-the-hill and ex-superstar. when he starts singing though, all you can think about is how perfect his tunes are and how strong his voice comes across, a far cry from the recent up and coming singers. his music carries you away with him, leaving behind time and age. in a little while, you forget that he is 54 as he brings you into his world.

the real concert began when he was called back by thunderous shouts of 'encore' from spectators that persistently refuse to leave, even after the stage light was shut down. he re-appeared to share with us his love for music. everybody was invited to the front of the stage, people from all grades of tickets, where they began dancing and rocking to his songs. we could feel his passion for the music and he could feel our energy. the moment that the concert was officially over was the moment that the fun started. he could be there to give us a few more songs or he could leave. so could we. we knew that and he knew that. however, all of us wanted to catch hold of the magic for a moment longer. a moment where we forgot everything else in the world, except the fun, the energy...and the music.

even the elusive moon sneaked a peek from his heavenly perch.

alan tham!! waaaaa!! I used to enjoy his songs when I was a teen. now... errr, a bit out of touch, so I definitely wasn't part of the 15,000 crowd. his old hits are still cool.

dear monty: *knocking monty's head* that man got so handsome like andy meh? that's my idol you are talking about leh.

aging doesn't matter, if you've still got hordes of fans like him when you're that age. to be still loved and adored by so many, that's worth living isn't it?

classical? zzzzzzz *nodding off* sorry, what's that again? haha. i'm hoping to catch phantom of the opera concert there next yr, just heard they are coming.

dear may: you would have loved it! the energy, the vibrancy (is there such a word?) the excitement, the place really came alive! i didn't know the songs well too, but i had lots of fun, standing on my chair and shouting at the top of my lungs! mum had to hit me a couple of times cos i was embarrasing her :"-) *grins sheepishly*

Ahhh, now I see we have quite a number of similarities. I'm a fan of Andy but definitely not Alan Tam. I've got a good fren who used to be an air stewardess in SIA and the stories I hear about his fling with them just makes me wanna throw up. Pleaselah, old & wrinkly oledilah that guy :P

dear everybody: to clear the air, it was alan tam. i tot the 'forever 25' would have given you guys a clue.

dear imd: *swoon* obviously andy's a much better choice than alan. such good taste you have *grins* but i think all the superstars do that - have flings with their groupies. why resist temptation when you can have free lunch? from their viewpoint anyway.

dear monty: are you kidding? andy's still as good looking as before, if not even better with age, like wine. andy's only in his 40s.

dear fei: sorry pics so small. actually hv many more but just post some only. have you got planned what you're going to do for retirement? fishing? travelling? or rock your hours away in a rocking chair, knitting? yakyakyak.

dear wuching: alan tam. sorry for making you confused.

dear serendipity: no,no.noooooooooo. it's not handsome andy. i saw andy previously but frankly speaking, his concert was more boring. undoubtedly he's more handsome, but not as good a singer. it's alan tam that i went to see.

dear kw: bingo. his old songs are still very nice.

dear lakeside girl: *grinning* you made me feel grateful to be there. well, there's always next year :-)

dear titoki: pull my hair? more likely pull the hair of the woman behind me - she was fighting with HD for souvenier that the alan & gang threw from the stage. i nearly gave her a black eye, that stupid woman! i was standing on my chair, shouting and wiggling away. mum had to hush me several times. i think she figured i'm too old for it. :-D

dear min: oooo, too bad. it was really a very fun concert, you would have loved it. he had much more enthusiasm and passion in him than other singers that just performed and left. he came back for the encore and asked everybody to play, dance and sing along.

dear ian: wakakaka. after being teased yesterday, i see mr liew's paying more regular comments now. kakakaka. don't feel obliged, friend. go finish your book and tell me what it's all about. btw, anniversary is not here yet.

dear robin: i observed his face the whole night and came to the conclusion he must have at least botox or something. when he smiled, his forehead didn't wrinkle much. his neck was a dead-giveaway though.

I wish I was there!!

But of course I'm not 'his time'. Mine is SHE and TWINS.... lol **quickly run and hide..**

me said...

dear helen: wakakaka. SHE and twins?! i would have thought it's Rain and .......god! i don't even know which are the most recent teenage pop groups!
