i couldn't say

i hold my tongue too much.

when i was little, my parents used to say that i'm better off being a lawyer, albeit it was said in a disparaging and frustrated tone. i can win any argument, i can argue until the cows come home. that was my forte; arguing my point.

however, growing up has taught me the virtue of holding my tongue. many things are better off left unsaid. be it tact, be it wisdom, i find it a more peaceful alternative to keep my opinions to myself. cowardice on my part? i'm inclined to agree. when the truth is ugly, when it hurts, when you know your opinion doesn't weigh much, when you know your input will not make a slightest difference, when you have been disillusioned one time too many, when tempers clash, when the other side refuses to open up their mind, when you know that they are not paying attention, when you are safeguarding someone else's secret, when you know too much, when you are pretending you don't know at all, when you are surrounded with people who do not care for your genuine interest, when the world is an ugly place, when no one is a true friend, when hypocrites are a-plenty. the reasons are too much, and getting more and more each day. for me to hold my tongue and keep my peace.

will i evolve into a mute some day?

this is a disease that we all have. we tend to swallow things. i just hope you wont spread it to your children. speaking up is the way of the future.

I still think it is good to speak your mind when necessary.

But the thing is when you tell the truth, you cannot expect the other party to accept it, in the same way that we don't like others to force their opinions upon us.

Don't become a mute leh. That would be too tragic. You're nicer being you, thorns, roses and all.

dear zewt: ahhh...u r thinking more of the political aspects. i have opinions a plenty, husband will testify to my grumbling and mumbling over the newspaper every morning, but most that won't agree with yours. my children are way too vocal with their opinions too, for my taste that is.

dear jonzz: speaking your mind is easy. not offending others is difficult. it's not just a matter of forcing opinions; one can always beg to differ. but when your opinion is not the same as the norm, it will generally cause friction. one thing i've learned as i mature, as opposed to growing old (hehe), is that people's opinions don't normally change. you can talk until the cows come home but ppl are stuck with their opinions. n some ppl are so stuck in theirs that they can't see the benefit of playing the devil's advocate. sometimes it's not worth the breath.

eh, what thorns?? i'm too sweet and nice to have thorns. :-p

dear wuchy: yes, thank you for always being here. *hugs*

dear e: sounds like spoken from someone who knows me. perhaps that's the problem? i'm presently sinking under the weight of all those deep dark smelly secrets and heavy skeletons. always a listener. who will listen to me? i can never tell.

Silent is golden! Sometime it is good to keep quiet! Nobody will know u r stupid if u r quiet ( just like 'hor ny ang moh' have to be quite as he is 'stupid'). He! He! Have a nice day!

Yes, you are allowed to become a mute, but never stop blogging. Just come tell us all the secrets and gossip.

I've heard those who speak less or choose their words wisely are viewed as most intelligent. However, since 99% of the human population are idiots, why do we really "care" what they think of us?

maybe act mute will be cooler. Like

"Nei ARh jor ah?!"

Then you pierced them with your stare and keep acting mute. real cool like that.

Yeah you talk too much! Hahaha!

It's either a silence of confidence, knowing that you have things in control without having to break it to possibly exacerbate it; or a silence of ignorance, since you have no bloody clue... At least the latter saves you from saying something wrong and expose the fact that you don't know what you're talking about...

But since you can't become a mute, I'll go dumb... selectively... :P

dear horny ang moh: wooooo, yr virgin visit here. take a seat, have some coffee, your arms must be tired, considering how they hang limpless at your side (yr avatar pic). nobody is stupid, it's just that everybody has different strengths.

dear annie: what an acute analysis. lean closer, i'll tell you the latest gossip....psstt...that alien ah....he was caught in...psss...*soft mumble*

a wise man once said....those who choose their words wisely have a very good thesauraus at home.

dear ah pek: i'll work on my piercing stare. failing that, can i pierce them with an arrow or a knife? eyes too slitty for anyone to even realise i'm glaring at them.

dear ian: my, my, what a rare visit. and the very first sentence from this honoured guest being? that i talk too much?! *sends double flying kick with mid-air body twist* i don't talk too much, you talk too little. i have to work so hard to make up for your little faults. sheesh, u ungrateful little person.

the best part of not talking..is when they don't know whether it's the former or latter. which makes it 50% that you are, or at least i am, equally likely to be intelligent. and ppl being their own lacking confidence self, will usually assume that others are more superior to them. ta dah! therein lies my secret to fake confidence. now u know my secret, i'll have to kill u.

dear horny angmoh: first question, are you horny? forget that, all men ARE horny. second question, are you angmoh? doesn't strike me that you are a foreigner. after all, the monkey species are our ancestors many million years ago. so! you are the one who have been poking me all morning. ouch!! i'm all sore and blue black. :-(
