the person who gave me this

also gave me this

strangely, i'm more excited about the second gift than i am about the first. the feel of the paper. the smooth lined surface. the black sophisticated cover. pure empty pages. a fresh start for the fresh year. thinking of it makes me tingle.

the electronic photo frame, i have absolutely no idea what to do with it. it's just another thing occupying space. to actually put photos in and hook it up 24/7 means electricity and good money wasted. the power companies must be rubbing their hands with glee when the smartass inventor came up with the idea. i have another one just like that lying in a box at home, collecting layers after layers of dust. it seemed like a brilliant idea at first, but after the first two days, you remember the photos that you loaded and don't need to be reminded of it 24 hours 7 days a week.

so, i guess it must be really hard shopping for someone with a weird sense of priorities like me. i think simple is always better.

you have TWO gifts from the same person? this person must really like you a lot. and possibly more.

yeah, unless you have 100s of photos for display, it's actually more of an ornamental piece than anything else, but still, it's the thought that counts.

i did a little check on the philips 7" digital photo frame & it consumes only 3W of power, a little more than the radio clock (1W) & much less than a laptop(50W) or microwave (800W).

so, no, you can't really blame power consumption for not using it.

the tricky part is : do you need to explain to this person why it's not on display should this person visit you?

lol. it's more of a corporate gift. so i guess they won't be visiting me anytime in the near or distant future. so i'm also not quite sure about the thought. i think it's more of an obligation than affection.:P

i didn't realise it consumes that little power, as the pictures keep changing and it's lighted 24/7. actually, i've unplugged my radio clock for the same precise reason. to keep it plugged in all the time for that 5 seconds that i look at it in the morning and before bed seems luxurious. i've since changed to a battery operated one. i've always stopped the radio alarm within the first 2 seconds anyway, so i don't know why i even needed the radio. such a practical person a virgoan is.

i'm trying to get my mind to adjust to the fact that one minute of microwave is probably using more power than one day of the photo frame....but i still can't get myself to leave something on that is not really used (after a few days of looking at it in wonderment, you kind of ignore it). i've to brainwash myself somemore.

in the name of friendship

i have met up with her probably 2 to 3 times in the last 35 years. she wants to borrow money, this almost stranger. i obliged, in the name o...
